Genia: Gloria Naylor, hands down. I love her work. Most people are only aware of her book The Women of Brewster’s Place because it was made into a movie. All her work is great and definitely deserves a place on your bookshelf.

Andrea: I like Sarah Waters who has written several books including my personal favorite, Tipping the Velvet. I am a very slow reader but managed to read this book in a weekend. I still need to read her most recent book called The Night Watch.

Genia: The first lesbian-themed book I read was Women of Brewster’s Place, by Gloria Naylor. I saw it before it was a movie. I’ve also read her books Linden Hills, Bailey’s Cafe and Mama Day. She’s a great read.

Andrea: The first lesbian-themed book I read was Ruby Fruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown. I became hooked on her writing after that book and read several others written by her.
