Who’s Your Favorite Lesbian Musician?

Genia: I’m really feelin’ hip-hop artist Reina Williams – who’s actually a self-identified bisexual. I also like Billie Myers (again a self-identified bisexual woman), Tracy Chapman and Ellis.

Andrea: There are some great lesbians making music out there. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite but I definitely have some musicians that rock my world. Here are just a few that I have rolling around my brain: Melange Lavonne, God-Des and She, Tina Schlieske from the group Tina and the B-Sides Movement, Catie Curtis, Tracy Chapman who I think is a lesbian, Tegan and Sara, Ellis, and my new favorite Reina Williams.

    How can anybody pick just one. There are so many good one. Depending on my mood, I listen to different music. A few of my favorites are God-Des and She, Tegan and Sara, Melissa Ethridge, Jill Sobule and Melissa Ferrick. And on rare occasion, Otep.

    My all-time favorite is Skin from Skunk Anansie who has identified herself as a bisexual. I’m really getting into Uh Huh Her, though.

    Tracy Chapman has always been my favorite. I’m also a big fan of Melissa Etheridge. Jen Foster is also up there. But there are plenty more out there that are great musicians, listening to She Said, She Said has definitely opened me up to more that wasn’t aware of!
