Genia: I have so many ‘friends’ on Facebook that I don’t check anyone’s page unless they address me directly – that includes my girlfriend. I once dated a girl who checked my MySpace page all the time. She was always questioning me about why certain people were posting comments on my page. I hated that. I like a girl who has enough ‘friends’ (in real life and online) to keep her too busy to check up on me.

Andrea: My partner just so happens to be online all the time that I can’t help but see what she’s up to. I have gone to her page because she’s always posting stuff about things going on and has funny videos too.

No, thankfully I have no need to spy on her. With FB or any other tool!

The term “spy” should be the red flag you need to run, run, run from a mindset of jealousy and control.

I am online on Twitter, Facebook and my own blog. I don’t consider my partner to be spying on me no more than any curious readers, colleagues, & others. In the case of my partner, a fellow blogger, I’d be more surprised if he didn’t care to read the life I share with everyone else.

I never did it, but I do know of a story where someone did. She made a fake page, got accepted by her boyfriend, and flirted with him on the regular until they finally planned to meet up. Then she met him there. Sounds like an awesome plan, but I would never want to be the one who has to use it.
